Don’t ever make the mistake of thinking groundhogs to be harmless creatures, for they are not! While you may not want to mess with them for no reason, they might be secretly eating your crops and destroying your houses without you even knowing it. It has happened to me a few times, but after that I employed a number of secret strategies to keep groundhogs at bay. In this article, I will tell you about three ways to combat with and eliminate groundhogs.
1. Trapping and fencing: Trapping is my favorite way of eliminating groundhogs. I trap each and every groundhog that I can locate, and relocate them to far off places. I don’t spare even a single groundhog. This approach alone has rid my garden of seven groundhogs. Fencing is another way you can keep groundhogs at bay. Your fences should not be too low but they needn’t be too high either.
If you are a novice, then trapping may seem harder than it actually is! For one, you need to be careful that you are able to trap all of the groundhogs that inhabit your garden. For another, you need to make sure that no other animal gets trapped in the trap that you have made especially for the groundhogs. One easy solution to this problem is to use baits that attract only groundhogs. You can lay the bait and trap in such a way that as soon as the groundhogs rush in to eat the bait, the trap instantly entraps them and halts their movement.
3. Get a fresh apple from the market. Then slice it and leave the slices on a plate in your room. After 2 or 3 days, the slices will become brown and dry, and the fresh scent of the apples will eliminate groundhogs from your room.
