Remember the good old chef salads? – You can just cut up cold cuts, cheese, and hard-boiled egg on a green salad. However, these days, meal salads have become way more popular than chef salads. Why? Because you can easily make a variety of meal salads- in fact, there is no limit on how many varieties of meal salads you can make – you are limited only by your imagination.
When creating a meal salad, use dark green salads as they are highly nutritious unlike the traditional iceberg lettuce. Some bottled dressings contain a fair amount of sugar to compensate for the loss of flavor that occurs when oil is reduced. Therefore, if you want to use bottled dressings, be sure to check the package to see how much carbs they contain. When you choose dressings, choose the ones that are made with oils which are rich in monounsaturated fats, such as olive oil. You should make your own dressings, and making them is not hard at all. In fact, it takes less than one minute to make a perfect dressing. Take out an oil-based salad, whip it up at the bottom of the bowl, then put the salad on top, and toss. If you want to have a creamy dressing instead, all you need to do is just mix your favorite herbs and spices into some mayonnaise. Then thin it down with lemon juice or just plain water.
