Would there be costs involved to get a domain transfered from Namecheap to my own hosting company?

None, apart from the usual domain transfer fee charged by your host; if they charge you any other extraneous fees, then run, don’t walk, because they are perhaps scamming you! :)

I would not recommend buying your domain and hosting from same provider though, because if your host has a bad hair day and decides to shut down both your hosting and domain, then where do you stand?

That is why I always keep my hosting and domain service providers separate. That is the single reason why I have not purchased any web hosting from namecheap even though:

      a) They are one of the best guys as far as my experience with them (it has been several years since I have been using them as my primary domain registrar) goes!

      b) Their VPSs are one of the cheapest ones out there, and from what I read in their forums, very robust too ;)

Thanks for the advice, it is appreciated!

    I love Namecheap.

I register all my domains there (now).

The interface is user friendly, and you automatically get 1 free email address with your domain which redirects to your normal email address.

Best of all they aren’t constantly trying to sell you additional services when you buy from them.

Thanks Arindam for the coupon. I’ve just been able to use it. Namecheap is my favorite.

Nope, though that was the job option my English tutor had recommended to me! :D
